Lots of writers find characters taking over their story, or unimportant characters becoming main characters, and usually I think that's a good thing, it shows that the world of their story is one in which characters can thrive.

But in my case, this year, it's the lab mice. I think of them as metal mice, although they are not metal. What they are is tough mice with an ehanced craving for protein, and they want to make my story into a gor fest.

As if Day of the Rabbit (or was that Night of the Lepus) wasn't bad enough, my mice are breaking out of the lab and they don't care about taking over the world; they just want to eat it.
